The Conference will gather together representative of the scientific community and the relevant stakeholders of the agrifood system to discuss the main related challenges (with reference, e.g. to food quality & safety, traceability & transparency, digitalization, circular bioeconomy, sustainability and resilience) and share the point of view of both food businesses, covering primary production and food and drink industry, and consumers, even highlighting the importance of directly engaging all the different actors by applying multi-actor and co-creation approaches. Furthermore, the point of view of research and national metrology institutes will be considered, highlighting the importance of harmonization and standardization.

The conference will be delivered remotely in English, French and Spanish, with simultaneous interpretation or subtitles available in each language.

Enhancing Food Safety and Food Security In a Changing World and Keeping Food Safety Incidents and Crisis Response High On the Agenda

As we continue to combat the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this conference will provide a timely and important opportunity to consider food safety incidents and crises and how globally we respond to challenges which might affect global food safety and food supply.

More generally, our conference will look at the role of food systems and regulators in food safety incidents, including the best practice for food borne illness outbreak management, the use of surveillance techniques and emerging technologies.

It will consider the role of the food industry in incident resolution and product recalls, as well as best practice in food crime, food defence and food authenticity, and how best to communicate food risks. We'll also be looking at a range of issues including how we achieve harmonisation and use of best practice across differing international regulatory systems, as well as future challenges for industry and regulators.

An International Panel of Experts

The conference will bring together a diverse and unique network of international regulators, food safety scientists, food laboratory experts and technical experts from across the world.

Our international panel of speakers and presenters are experienced professionals drawn from across public health, food regulation and the food industry, to lend their authoritative insight to an engaging and informative series of presentations, seminars, workshops and plenary sessions over three days.

We've highlighted some of the sessions and themes we’ll be discussing here (this will initially link to a sanitised form of the conference agenda and speakers)

Share and Influence

Our intention is that this conference will help to ensure that food safety and good incident management practice remain a high priority in a world of shifting global events. We will explore subjects ranging from how we manage incidents and emergencies as part of broader food systems, to how we can work more closely with INFOSAN, the Codex Alimentarius Commission and the World Health Organization to set high standards and support industry and regulators.
