31106331695?profile=RESIZE_400xThe International Conference on Molluscan Shellfish Safety (ICMSS) is the premier global forum for advancing shellfish safety. Join leading scientists, regulators, and industry experts to share cutting-edge research, discuss emerging threats, and shape the future of safe, sustainable shellfish production.

Although the programme is primarily safety, rather than authenticity, there is a significant overlap of these topics in the case of shallow-water shellfish.  Shellfish harvest areas are routinely closed then re-opened through the season by regulators to avoid safety risks such as toxic algal blooms or poor water quality.  Illegal harvest from closed beds is a perennial risk in the industry, and a challenge to traceability systems.

The ICMSS is the world’s premier shellfish conference, held every 2 years.  This year it is being hosted in the UK by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS).
