The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) have published their annual technical report on emerging risks. This report relates to EFSA’s assessment of risks reported during the 2021 calendar year. EFSA classify 8 risks as “emerging”, most of which are bacteria, virus’s or natural toxins spreading beyond their traditional hosts. None are explicitly food authenticity related but the risk of overdose from too high Vitamin D in food supplements is highlighted, as is unforseen adverse health affects from the consumer trend towards coconut oil.
