Non-targeted testing relies on statistical comparison of test results with an "authentic" database. Such databases are difficult to construct, highly speciric, and usually held by an individual organisation.
FAN curate a "database of databases", to signpost to organisations that hold such non-targeted reference databases. We have recently added seven databases that are held by Wageningen Food Safety Research (WUR).
- "Organic" and "grass fed" claims in cows' milk and butter
- "Organic" and "free range" claims in eggs
- Undeclared prior freezing of fish
- White fish species, as an adulterant in fish and meat
- "Organic" and "free range" claims in chicken (database no longer updated)
- Premium chocolate varieties (database no longer updated)
You can find our database of databases here, or navigate via the "Search for Authenticity Databases" button on our home page.
Thanks to FAN member Annemieke Pusjens for providing this information. If you know of other databases it would be useful to signpost then plcase contact us at sacretary@foodauthenticity.global
